Toch functioneert de patiënt ermee. Kauwen, of herkauwen in veel gevallen, gaat ze goed af. Praten en zelfs zingen gaat in hun ervaring probleemloos. En er kan zelfs mee gelachen worden. De mond adapteerde wonderwel aan de gedeformeerde prothese. Maar na verloop van tijd gaan patiënten zich soms toch storen aan de tekortkomingen. Zeker als de patiënt zanger is.
